Crab Wontons with Plum Sauce and The Spicy Lemon
It’s amazing how time is already flying by! We are already on Day 3 of our 12 Day project. That means you already have 3 great food and cocktail ideas for your holiday parties! One of my favorite parts of this project is that many of the ideas can be combined to create “themed” holiday parties, or can be made in small amounts for a festive night with a couple friends. That’s what the holidays are all about right? Spending time with the people who bring warm fuzzies into your heart.
Today’s pairing is one that I am particularly fond of. There are so many wonderful flavors going on in both the wontons and the cocktail. The Spicy Lemon is one of my favorite cocktail recipes (next to the Terrace Tonic, of course) that I have made. The slight sweetness from honey and the lemon juice combine perfectly with the heat of the hot pepper. It reminds me a little of Spicy Thai Pineapple.

I love the simple presentation of this cocktail. The dried pepper is so simple and elegant. The pale yellow color of the cocktail is perfect with the vibrant red and green of the dried pepper. Perfect color combination for the holidays, don’t you think?
I have shared this cocktail with many friends and they have all become big fans (and some have even made it at home for people they love!) One of my favorite things about Tokyo Terrace is hearing the stories people have to share about how the recipes they find here made it into their homes. I hope these recipes will find the path to your party spread!

Makes 4 cocktails
12 oz. gin or vodka
Juice of 2 lemons
4 teaspoons honey
2 or 3 small slices of red chili pepper, seeds removed (I used a scotch bonnet pepper, but you can chose a more mild pepper if you’d like as long as it’s flavor infuses the alcohol easily)
Slices of lemon and dried chili peppers for garnish
ice
Combine the ice, lemon juice, honey and pepper slice in a cocktail shaker. You know what to do…shake it!
Use the strainer to pour the drink over ice in a highball glass or other cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon slice and/or dried chili pepper. Enjoy!
